I feel compelled to share with you a musical great–and music we wish we were listening to on those grayest days of February. Yma Sumac died in 2008, but her music lives on in the office, car, home and elsewhere. Listen to a few of her unusual songs here.
I’m often asked “what inspires you”? That’s a hard one because the list is endless. It could be an interesting pattern or motif, a great movie, or a museum show that has absolutely nothing to do with furniture. The experiences spark images of lifestyle and home and I am inspired to create something appropriate for them. I sketch on airplanes, on the beach, at my desk, wherever and whenever I want to record an idea. It’s both an intuitive and conscious process——I turn an abstraction (a feeling or experience) into a furniture sketch and then make a studied drawing for production.
