Teenage Bedrooms
One place that goes underreported in shelter mags: teenage bedrooms, the kind of bedrooms embellished by teenagers, themselves–with scotch tape, Christmas lights, paper, magazine cut-outs, scarves, and a few lava lamps. Kate has a blog dedicated to this special sphere of the home: Teenage Bedroom.
“Heya! My name is Lyris and I’m 16. I live in NYC. I’m into music (The Cure, Neutral Milk Hotel, Modest Mouse, Jimi Hendrix- he’s on that big poster there), Tank Girl, Ezra Miller’s face, wearing t-shirts initially made for little boys, and taking photos. My room is awesome because a lot of my typical high school days consist of learning information I will never need to know about in the future, and when I get home to my bedroom, I am surrounded by photos of things I actually care about and enjoy.”—Submission from Lyris

Something about the oft-maximalist style is refreshing, a sort of freedom and abandon that many of the most sophisticated designers can’t imagine reclaiming from their youth.

Great blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere?
A design like yours with a few simple tweeks would really make my blog
stand out. Please let me know where you got your theme.
Many thanks
