House in Hokusetsu by Tato Architects

In Osaka, Tato Architects has designed a unique family home with floor plan that enables residents to live more freely. Yo Shimada, the head of Tato Architects, is known for his creative design approaches and designed this particular home as a series of 12 squares that intersect 8 rhombuses. The result is many unique rooms, some without walls between them, and others open to the outdoors. The main functional areas of the home are situated in the square parts of the floor plan to provide some order, but the use of the rhombus rooms is left to be determined by the residents.
