Transforming a Traditional Brick Exterior

In a coastal city in southern Vietnam, OldMeetsNew house by Block Architects is enclosed by a seemingly-delicate brick shell. The floor-plan of the house is informed by traditional three-part country houses that are common in the area. The outer shell of the home gives it a contemporary twist as a checkerboard pattern of bricks leave many parts of the interior open to the outdoors. Natural light, wind and fresh air are able to penetrate the walls and circulate throughout the home.
