WRECK by Bentu Design

Bentu Design recently released a new project titled WRECK, a series of furniture and sculptures that are created using recycled ceramics. For the project, Bentu collected ceramic waste from Chaozhou, China, which supplies 70% of the world’s daily-use ceramic pieces.

Through this series, Bentu hopes to show the changing social and economic environment in Chaozhou, where traditional culture and architecture have disappeared, and old factories have been transformed into recycling plants. The ceramic shards that characterize WRECK were collected from these plants, where only a fraction of porcelain waste can be recycled.
